Time is long and there is no end to art. He will continue to uphold the conviction of pursuing artistic excellence and move toward the forefront of art.

Learning the experience of painting oil painting is a difficult journey. Xue Jinyong remembers that at that time, the oil painting studios of many people in China were still quite difficult. In a studio, dozens of people were required to paint together. The young Xue Jin has a passion for oil painting and he is very quick to learn from the teacher. After a day of accumulation, the skills of the young Xue Jinyong are improving day by day. Early in the morning, he had a loaf of bread in the morning and went to the studio to paint. When the master made the painting, one stroke, one fine stroke and movement, Xue Jinyong remembered the heart. At noon, eat a loaf of tap water and continue painting in the afternoon. At that time, every day, at 5 o'clock in the afternoon, the other students in the painting room went home. Only Xue Jinyong continued his painting in the studio. Like most people learning to paint, when I first learned painting, I first learned to sketch. Xue Jinyong insists on drawing more than twice as much time as others, and deeply engraves the look and vision in the sketches. Still in my heart. It is precisely because of the hardships of the year that Xue Jinyong’s various characters in the three-nation series of oil paintings that he painted today are prestigious, surpassing their predecessors and becoming a family.

Academy of Fine Arts

In 2000, at the invitation of the Malaysian Ministry of Culture, Xue Jinyong went to the Malaysian Academy of Arts for short-term painting, where he met Mr. Loke. It laid the foundation for the future creation of oil paintings in the three countries.

After returning to China after Ma Guo, Mr. Jin Yong felt that his creative ideas were not very clear. At that time, there was a very good opportunity ------ Central Academy of Fine Arts. The Central Academy of Fine Arts is the only high-level art school directly under the Ministry of Education. It was founded by the famous educator Cai Yuanpei. This is the first national art education institution in Chinese history and the beginning of Chinese modern art education. Famous artists such as Xu Beihong, Jiang Feng, Wu Zuoren, Gu Yuan and Yan Shangyi have served as deans. The current dean is Professor Pan Gongkai, a famous painter and art history theorist. The current director of the Academic Committee is the famous oil painter Professor Yishang Yi. One of the founders of the domestic oil painting training class was Professor Zhai Shangyi. Later, Professor Qi Shangyi also taught paintings for Xue Jinyong and other students in the training class.

Mr. Jin Yong often remembers the days at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, where he gained a lot. This is inseparable from the ideas of the Three Kingdoms oil paintings created in the days that followed.

Road to creation

Mr. Xue Jinyong first read the book The Romance of the Three Kingdoms when he was studying in his early years. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is the first chapter of the ancient Chinese classics, and is a classic of historical romance novels. It is called "The Three Kingdoms Popular Romance". The book describes the contradictions and struggles between the three political and military groups headed by Cao Cao, Liu Bei and Sun Quan in the third century AD. The story begins with the yellow towel uprising and finally unified in the Western Jin Dynasty. On the broad social and historical background, it shows the political and military conflicts of the era that are sharp and complex and distinctive. In terms of political and military strategies, they have had a profound impact on future generations. It is one of the four famous classics of Chinese classical novels. Xue Jinyong, who was studying as a child, was deeply attracted by the characters and stories inside.

The creation of the oil paintings of The Romance of the Three Kingdoms has to be said from 1993, when Mr. Xue Jinyong made a visit in Penang. Mr. Loke Gim Tay, a Singaporean businessman who is passionate about oil painting and Chinese culture, Mr. Loke has a special liking for the culture of the Three Kingdoms since childhood. Through the further exchanges between the two, a bold and innovative inspiration flashed in the mind of Mr. Xue Jinyong: Why can't the Chinese culture of 5,000 years reproduce its brilliance and splendor on the canvas. With the support of Mr. Loke, Mr. Xue Jinyong started the creation of the first three-nation series oil painting “Zhao Yunzhan Qinghong”. From then on, Mr. Xue Jinyong’s career in the creation of the Three Kingdoms oil paintings for more than 10 years began, and the oil paintings of the Three Kingdoms Art is integrated with itself. Since the beginning of the creation of the oil painting series of the Three Kingdoms, Mr. Xue Jinyong has devoted himself to painting the Three Kingdoms and has created a precedent in the field of Chinese oil painting art. In December of 2003, the series of works of the Three Kingdoms were published in the China and International Painting and Calligraphy. In 2006, he was invited by the Overseas Chinese College of Singapore to hold the Oil Painting Exhibition of the Three Kingdoms, combining Chinese traditional culture with local cultural education, and was well received by people from all walks of life including Singapore and other countries.
